Common questions
Is Vedansh free?
Yes — free. There is no account to create and nothing to subscribe to.
Why does it ask for my location?
Only to compute accurate sunrise, sunset and Panchang timings for where you are — and it is entirely optional. Decline it and pick your city by hand instead; Ujjain is the default.
My japam alarm didn't go off
Alarms are scheduled on your device, so the operating system has the final say:
- Android — allow Alarms & reminders (exact alarms) for Vedansh in system settings, and exclude the app from battery optimisation. Both are needed for a mantra alarm to fire at the exact minute.
- iOS — check that notifications are allowed for Vedansh, and that Focus or Do Not Disturb isn't silencing them at that hour.
If it still misses after that, write in and say which day and time it skipped.
Which languages can I read in?
Every verse carries Hindi (Devanagari) and English. Gujarati and Kannada are available as reading languages, and Sanskrit texts also show IAST transliteration.
A verse or translation looks wrong
Please tell us — corrections are welcome and get priority. Inside the app, use More → Report an Error, which opens an email with the details filled in. Or write directly with the reference (for example "Gita 2.47" or "Sundarkand, verse 3") and what you believe it should read.
The Panchang differs from my almanac
Likely reckoning rather than error: Purnimant and Amanta month systems, and different rounding conventions for tithi boundaries, legitimately disagree. You can switch systems in the app. If a value is off by more than a few minutes against your local panchang, send the date and your city and it will be looked into.
How do I delete my data?
Uninstall the app. Everything — bookmarks, reading progress, routines, Sankalp programmes, japam counts and streaks — lives only on your device, so removing the app removes all of it. See the Privacy Policy.
Can you add a text, a katha or a bhajan?
Very possibly. Send the name and, if you know it, a public-domain source. The library grows from these requests.
